A ROAD EXPEDITION FROM THAILAND TO BHUTAN
IN COMMEMORATION OF THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF ESTABLISHMENT OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS BETWEEN THE TWO KINGDOMS
Bhutan and Thailand share close and friendly relations emanating from the two Royal households. The Royal Families of Bhutan and Thailand share exceptionally warm ties, which have been mirrored by strong bonds of friendship between the two Kingdoms and its peoples.
The year 2019 marks the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two Kingdoms. This important milestone in our relations receives added significance as the year coincides with the Royal Coronation of His Majesty The King Rama X. The 30th Anniversary therefore is a historic occasion to celebrate the excellent state of our relations that we value very dearly.
To commemorate the 30th Anniversary of diplomatic relations, the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in partnership with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thairung Union Car Public Company Limited organizing a friendship drive from Thailand to Bhutan. The friendship drive themed "Bhutan-Thailand Friendship Drive – Connecting Peoples of the Two Kingdoms by Land", will be the first ever road trip to be undertaken from Thailand to Bhutan.
The friendship drive is geared towards further strengthening the bonds of contact and friendship between our two Kingdoms, and open up a new avenue for people to people linkages, trade, commerce and tourism taking forward the concept of “Two Kingdoms, One Destination”.
